Your family's privacy.

How Sophie handles your family's data, in plain English. We keep it short on purpose.

Effective September 29, 2026.

Who we are

Sophie is built and operated by Revyze ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when your family uses Sophie, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Sophie website, web app, and mobile app.

What we collect

We keep this to what tutoring a student actually needs.

  • Account details: the parent's name and email address from Google or Apple sign-in, the student's name and email address, and any notes a parent writes about their child so Sophie can adapt to them.
  • The student's voice during a live session. Sophie is a spoken tutor, so the student's speech is streamed to our AI provider to run the conversation and is transcribed.
  • Images the student chooses to share: photos of homework, camera images of the paper on the desk, documents sent in chat, and images of the student's screen when they turn on screen sharing.
  • Session records: the transcript and a log of what happened in each session, used to build the parent's recap and to let Sophie pick up where she left off.
  • Learning records: what Sophie observed about the student's understanding, their progress through topics, and the notes Sophie keeps to remember the student between sessions.
  • Technical data: standard server logs and basic device and browser information, used to keep Sophie working and secure.

When you buy hours, Stripe handles the payment, so we never see or store your card number. We keep what was bought, for which student, and when. With a student's first pack, Stripe also collects a shipping address, which we use only to send the tripod. We never collect precise location or your contacts.

How we use it

  • To run the tutoring session and let Sophie see and hear the student's work.
  • To build the parent's recap after each session and the progress view.
  • To help Sophie remember the student from one session to the next.
  • To improve how Sophie teaches, by reviewing sessions internally.
  • To keep the service safe, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To answer you when you write to us.

Who sees it

We don't sell your family's data, and we don't use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers we need to run Sophie:

  • AI model providers (OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic), which process the student's speech, images, and text to run the tutoring. Under our agreements with them, this data is used only to provide the service to us and not to train their models.
  • Amazon Web Services, which hosts Sophie and stores its data in the United States.
  • Google and Apple, which handle sign-in.
  • Resend, which sends our emails to parents.
  • Stripe, which processes payments.
  • Amazon, which delivers the tripod to your shipping address.
  • PostHog, which measures how people use our website, app and ChatGPT lessons, in the United States.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or if Sophie is ever acquired by another company, in which case your data stays protected by this policy.

Children's privacy

Sophie is built for high-school students. A parent or guardian creates and controls the family account, decides what their child uses, and can see everything Sophie keeps about their child from the parent dashboard, including the notes Sophie remembers. A parent can clear those notes at any time.

Students must be 13 or older to use Sophie. We don't knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13 without a parent's verifiable consent. If you believe we have, write to us and we'll delete it.

Sophie lessons in ChatGPT

Sophie also offers lessons inside ChatGPT. There, you don't sign in to Sophie, and we don't receive your name, your email address or your conversation with ChatGPT: ChatGPT sends us only the lesson you asked for. We don't keep your IP address.

To improve the lessons, we record anonymous usage events: when a lesson starts, each step viewed, each answer choice and whether it was right, when a lesson ends, and which links are clicked. Each lesson visit gets a random ID that is not linked to you, with no cookie and no location. We send these events to PostHog and keep them for at most 12 months.

Your use of ChatGPT itself is covered by OpenAI's privacy policy.

How long we keep it

We keep your family's data for as long as the account is active. When you ask us to delete it, or close the account, we delete or anonymize it within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep it longer.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access is limited to the members of our team who need it to run and improve Sophie. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll tell you if a breach affects your family.

Your choices

  • See, correct, or download your family's data: email us.
  • Delete your family's data or close the account: use Delete account in Settings, or email us.
  • Clear what Sophie remembers about your child: use Settings.

If you live in California, these are the rights the CCPA gives you, and we honor them. We don't sell or share personal information for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. We'll never treat you differently for exercising your rights.

Changes

When we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and ask you to accept it again before you continue.
